BJD leaders' gathering in Guwahati stirs speculation

Senior members of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) were recently spotted in Guwahati, sparking considerable interest within political circles regarding such an assembly outside the state. Though it is said that the leaders had visited Guwahati for a social event, it has triggered speculation as several youth leaders had congregated in the state.

This time, several prominent leaders of BJD including Sanjay Das Burma, Sambit Routray, Atanu Sabyasachi, and Prabhat Tripathy were spotted together. While their discussions remain undisclosed, the coming together of these key political figures has drawn attention.

Not only BJD, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Prashant Jagadev and Bishnu Das were also seen in appearances alongside veteran politician Bijay Mohapatra. This unusual convergence of senior and junior leadership from diverse political backgrounds has ignited speculation about the potential implications.

Clarification from Leaders

However, Sanjay Das Burma has downplayed the significance of the gathering, stating, "There is no such congregation and rather it is such media speculation. Today, whatever responsibility has been entrusted by the people of Odisha, we are doing that. It is a battle of ideologies. If any discussion with the party happens, we should welcome it.”

Senior BJD leader Prasanna Acharya said, “We have a long political career and we have friends and supporters. I could certainly offer tea if someone visits my home.”
