The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) has directed the Odisha DGP, the Angul district Collector, and the Superintendent of Police to initiate a probe into the allegations of tribal women being misbehaved by Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Nalini Pradhan and his supporters and submit reports within seven days.   

On January 15, the consecration ceremony of the Jangha Deo’s temple was being held at Ambasaramunda village under Athamallik of Angul district. During the programme, BJD leader Nalini Pradhan and his supporters allegedly hurled abuses at tribal women. 

In this regard, the Akhila Bharatiya Gondwana Gond Parishad had filed a complaint with the NCST, Government of India.

Expressing its concern over the incident, the Commission directed the DGP, the Angul district Collector, and the Superintendent of Police to submit the investigation report within seven days. 

No reactions were received from the BJD leader, district administration, or police in this regard.
