Pranab Prakash Das
BJD leader Pranab Prakash Das has resigned from his position as president of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), informed OCA secretary Sanjay Behera on Sunday.
Addressing a presser, Behera said, “When he submitted his resignation, I requested him to continue. But he said that he is resigning due to personal problems. He said the former Chief Minister had sent him to do something for the betterment of the Barabati Stadium. But he felt he can’t do anything as the president.”
“He felt so because his party is not in power. He is also not attending meetings. So on the ground of personal reasons, he has stepped down,’ he said.
Replying to the queries of journalists, he said, “The past government helped us a lot. And the Mohan Majhi-led government will also help us. We have members from all the parties."
On the appointment of a new president, Behera said, “Our constitution says a new president will be appointed within 45 days. But, since there is a One Day International match scheduled to be played in Barabati Stadium, we will have an election for the post. In the meantime, if the House authorizes, our vice president will officiate as the president.”
Notably, Pranab was elected as the president of OCA on October 28, 2022.
