BJP's Lekhashree Samantsinghar
Launching a scathing attack on the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday alleged that the conch party is doing revenge politics in the State.
BJP slammed the BJD over the arrest of RTI activist Sarbeswar Beura by Odisha police.
Addressing a press conference, BJP leader Lekhashree Samantsinghar alleged, because Beura exposed the loot in Dankari and Bichakhandi mines in Jajpur district, the BJD turned revengeful and got him arrested on a false case.
“Because of Beura, even the Lokayukta had noticed ten persons including former Tehsildar Ranjan Das. There is a nexus between mining mafia, local administration and the BJD leaders, which was exposed by Beura. That is why he was arrested in a false case and has been put behind bars from past three days,” Samantsinghar said.
Samantsinghar further alleged that Beura was attacked with bombs in 2021 over the same reason.
It is pertinent to mention here that two bike-borne miscreants hurled bombs targeting Sarbeswar Beura while he was returning home with a friend in a car at Imamnagar village in Jajpur district in March 2021. The activist and his friend sustained critical injuries and were shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack.
