Former MLA Sambit Routray
BJD on Monday trained its gun on the BJP and Industries Minister Sampad Swain over the alleged attack on Kujang BDO, demanding immediate arrest of the persons involved in the case and transfer of the BDO.
Addressing a presser in Kujang, BJD leader and former MLA Sambit Routray warned that they would launch a massive agitation in front of the block office if their demands were not fulfilled.
“We demand action against those involved in the case and transfer of the BDO. If our demands are not fulfilled, a massive demonstration will be staged in front of the block office on September 20 when state-level leaders are visiting Kujang. They (BJP workers) are doing this to get closer to the minister. But they can’t understand that their activities are only tarnishing his image,” said Routray.
Countering BJD’s press meet, BJP too organised a press meet in Paradip where party leaders slammed the conch party’s leaders.
“Before the elections, he had said they would beat up BJP workers on the road. People have rejected him. It doesn’t suit an ex-MLA to take a swipe at BJP,” said Rashmiranjan Samantray, BJP president, Paradip.
When contacted, Industries Minister Sampad Swain said, “The law will take its own course and action will be taken against those involved.”
Worth mentioning, some BJD leaders were having a discussion with the Kujang BDO on September 13 when some BJP workers allegedly reached there and resorted to hooliganism.
