Politics is now active in Odisha after BJD MP Debasish Samantaray stated that the party would join hands with the Congress and form government in the state. However, the Congress did not seem keen on joining hands with BJD and called it a colour-changing party.

Senior Congress leader Mohammed Moquim slammed the BJD and said, “The BJD is known for changing its colour and supporting the BJP in the Parliament and passing of bills. Hence, there is no chance of joining hands with the BJD.”

“The cases are still pending in the court. Debasish Samantaray's prediction to win in the by-election is certainly laughable,” the Congress leader said.

A day after claiming to form a new government in alliance with Congress in Odisha, BJD MP Debashish Samantaray today reiterated his comments and said that it was his belief and would soon turn true after the by-election.

A confident Samantaray said, “All of us know that Naveen Patnaik is our vote-catcher. This is just my speculation because I had registered a case and I know what the cases are against which candidate. So, this is just my belief.”

"If a by-election takes place, BJD will come out with flying colours. Debasish Samantaray was right. Do they (BJP) fear that they may lose eight to ten members? The future is uncertain. Who can say what form the simmering fire will take in the coming days?" said Sambit Routray, BJD leader.

On the other hand, BJP state vice president Golak Mohapatra said, “I would like to advise them to stop daydreaming. They are not able to digest being out of power and that is why they are speaking like a madman. Their house is fast getting empty. In such a situation, he is trying to give strength to his party's workers. But, nothing will work.”

Earlier, during a public meeting in Paradip Kujang, Samantaray was heard saying that BJD would join hands with Congress to form a new government.

In the viral video, Samantaray can be heard saying, “Today, let us take a vow, that we will oppose this Mohan Majhi government's MLAs at the district level. We will not allow them to walk on the road. Moreover, we have filed cases in the High Court. I also have had a talk with Naveen Babu in the presence of Pandian Babu.”

“I have asked Naveen Babu to be ready for the by-election. He asked me why and I said that at least 7 BJP MLAs will join us and we will reach 60. I told him to only wave his hands sitting inside a vehicle during the by-election and we will definitely win. If needed, we will join hands with Congress and form the new government,” he added.

On the other hand, the BJP also slammed the Rajya Sabha member and asked the conch party to come out of their ‘power hangover’.

Speaking to media persons, BJP leader Biranchi Tripathy stated that the condition of BJD without power has become like that of a fish without water.

“They are not able to come out of power hangover. Till now, they are conspiring to come back to power. So, I will ask them to come out of their power hangover and accept the reality,” said Tripathy.
