Biker dies after getting hit by vehicle engaged in Sambalpur RDC Office

In a tragic incident, a biker was killed after being hit by a speeding SUV at Dhanupali chhak in Sambalpur district on Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Ranjit Mohapatra of Bhatra area.

As per initial reports, the SUV involved in the accident was reportedly hired for Northern Range Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Secretary. The RDC Secretary is reportedly out of town on medical grounds.

Under such circumstances, several questions have now cropped up on who was driving the vehicle when the senior official is on leave. Following the accident, the driver of the SUV has fled the spot.

“The SUV hit the biker at around 10:40 pm yesterday. After hitting the bike, the vehicle hit other roadside kioks and overturned into a drain. The mishap occurred when the SUV was trying to overtake another vehicle,” said Madhav Mohapatra, an eye-witness.

Meanwhile, the SUV has been seized by Dhanupali police station and further investigation in connection with the incident is underway.
