Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Vice President, Baijayant Panda also paid his homage to the late leader.

“My obeisances and tributes to the unique public leader, eminent freedom fighter, daring pilot, renowned entrepreneur and industrialist, patriot, ex-Chief Minister of Odisha, proverbial man, beloved 'Biju Babu' of Odia, the late Biju Patnaik on his birth anniversary. Former Union Minister Dilip Ray wrote, “Paying my sincere tribute to the architect of modern Odisha and my mentor, Shri Biju Patnaik, on his birth anniversary. A leader who continues to rule the heart of 4.5 crore Odia’s, Biju Babu was a true Statesman who was not only tall in height but taller in his spirit & mind.”

“A visionary who devoted his entire life to the cause of the people of Odisha, and who always thought of the next generation and not about the next election, Biju Babu's legacy remains a guiding light for leaders and citizens alike,” Ray wrote.

“As we pay homage to the Tall Man, let’s pledge to embody his values i.e. always take decisions guided by a commitment to the larger interests of the society. Let’s contribute to Odisha’s progress, uphold scientific temper, and trust in our capabilities to achieve greater things. This, I believe, is the most fitting tribute to the man who remains etched in our hearts,” he added.

Biju Patnaik’s birth anniversary, March 5, is also observed as Panchayati Raj Diwas in Odisha.
