Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Bhubaneswar on September 17 will witness heightened security. Comprehensive arrangements include deployment of 11 DCP rank officers, 22 additional DCPs, and more forces. Twin City Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda detailed the route security from the airport to Janata Maidan. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi reviewed preparations. PM Modi will launch 'SUBHADRA Yojana' benefiting over one crore women.

Tight security cover in Bhubaneswar ahead of PM Modi’s Odisha Visit

The State Capital will be enveloped with a thick security blanket ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Bhubaneswar on September 17.

According to sources, as many as 11 DCP rank officers, 22 additional DCPs, 66 ACPs, 100 IICs, 300 senior police officers and 81 platoons of force are to be deployed for the safety of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the State Capital.

Sharing details about the security arrangement, Twin City Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda said, “The 12 km stretch from the airport to Janata Maidan has been divided into several sectors. IG Crime Branch and IG EOW will be in charge of the route lining. Similarly, IG Personnel will be in charge at the venue.”

“11 DCP rank officers, 22 additional DCPs, 66 ACPs, 100 IICs, 300 senior police officers, 81 platoons of force and around 500 home guards will be deployed during the PM’s visit. Besides, three units of STO, ODRAF will also be engaged in the security arrangement,” Panda added.

The routes- from the airport to Janata Maidan and Gadakana-have been declared no-flying zones, the senior IPS officer informed.

Six companies of CRPF will also be engaged during the PM’s visit, sources informed, adding that police will be deployed on the high rises to keep a vigil on the programme.

Later in the evening, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, along with senior BJP leaders visited Janata Maidan and reviewed the security arrangements.

Notably, PM Modi is scheduled to reach Biju Patnaik International Airport around 11.35 am and go to Janata Maidan where he will launch 'SUBHADRA Yojana' on his birthday.  Besides, he will also lay the foundation stone for some projects. 

The state cabinet approved the implementation of the 'SUBHADRA Yojana' under which a woman will get financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per annum for five years.

Women in the age group of 21 to 60 years will receive the benefit. The money will go to the accounts of beneficiaries through direct benefit transfer, he said.

More than one crore women will benefit from the scheme. Every year on 'Rakhi Purnima' and International Women’s Day, Rs 5,000 will go to the bank accounts of beneficiaries directly, he added.
