The minor boy Sohan while being rescued
In a concerning incident in Bhubaneswar’s IRC Village locality on Friday, a 13-year-old boy named Sohan Digal sustained grievous injuries after falling onto an iron grill. The incident occurred while he was attempting to retrieve his school uniforms on the rooftop.
This incident occurred at Plot Number N-1/311. Sohan is the son of Benjamin Digal.
The local Secretariat Fire Station personnel responded promptly to the distress call. The fire services team, which had been in the locality to clear trees broken due to thunderstorms following Nor'wester (Kalbaisakhi in local parlance) in the morning, used a cutting machine to extricate the minor boy from the iron grill. The boy was then transported to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the Capital City.
Sohan, a permanent resident of Kandhamal district, is in critical condition following this unfortunate incident, doctors treating him in the health facility informed.
“An iron grille pierced a part of the child’s body and came out from the other side. In a critical condition, the child was rescued and taken to AIIMS by ambulance,” an eyewitness stated.
Earlier in another incident, a nine-year-old boy from Odisha’s Bargarh district had to battle for his life after an iron rod pierced his body on May 31 last year.
The incident had taken place at Bhatli locality in Bargarh district. The patient identified as Jeevan Patikar was playing with his friends when the iron rod pierced his body in his ignorance.
The minor's family members had immediately rushed him to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Bargarh town. After his health condition deteriorated, he was then shifted to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla.
