The Commission has requested the National Human Rights Commission of India to investigate the incident of suspicious death and provide justice to the victims. The Commission has also demanded to bring the university officials and persons involved in the incident to justice and make them accountable.

Concerns over Safety

The letter underscored the importance of student safety and called for swift action in addressing the alleged mishandling by the university staff. The communication also emphasised creating a safe educational atmosphere, crucial for students' well-being.

This call for intervention comes amidst rising concerns over the treatment and security of international students at KIIT University in Odisha.

Based on the complaints received, the Commission is also taking information from the Nepali embassy in India and other media about the incident and the situation of the students.

It is claimed that the Nepali students, who were forced to leave the university due to the situation arising from the incident, are still unable to return to the university due to the alleged lack of a fearless environment. The Nepali Commission has also urged the Government of Nepal to take more diplomatic initiatives in this regard and create an environment where students can study.
