Bhubaneswar double murder case
The Commissionerate police on Sunday recreated the crime scene by the two arrested accused - Pradeep Mallik and Ganesh Mallik in connection with the double murder case over a parking dispute at Kalayani Plaza near Hitech apartment under Airfield police limits in Bhubaneswar.
As per police sources, the accused threw the knife used in the murder on the bank of Gangua near Panchagoan. Police and the scientific team reached the spot and started an investigation.
“A team from Airfield police station reached the spot immediately after the incident. After registering a case, an investigation was launched. After collecting all the evidence, the investigation by the scientific team, going through the CCTV footage and receiving the post-mortem report; two accused were arrested. A bike has been seized from their possession. The scientific team has also taken their biological samples and seized their apparel,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh.
The two accused were arrested on Saturday night. Police seized the bike used by the miscreants to flee from the crime scene, from Puri Bus Stand. The video of the miscreants fleeing from the spot on the bike after committing the crime was captured on the CCTV camera installed in the nearby area.
Notably, the victim Rashmi Ranjan Sethi had several rounds of altercation with the maintenance in charge of Kalyani Plaza, identified as Bapi, and had a brawl on Tuesday night over car parking.
Bapi again picked up a quarrel with Rashmi Ranjan on Wednesday night. Losing his cool, Rashmi slapped Bapi. Fumed over Rashmi Ranjan’s behaviour, Bapi and his associate allegedly chased the former and attacked him with sharp weapons causing his death on the spot.
The assailants also reportedly attacked Julu when he tried to resist them. Julu succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital.
