The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is going to celebrate the weekly street event Raahgiri on the last Sunday of December 2023, and the first two Sundays of January 2024, in order to promote healthy living, an active lifestyle, and to create awareness on environmental issues.

This year, the event will be organised in three zones of Bhubaneswar.

The BMC held a meeting and discussed modalities on how to smoothly organize the street event on Monday.   

A committee comprising two corporators from each zone and, the Zonal Deputy Commissioner (ZDC) and the additional commissioner as its members will finalise the kinds of events and programmes to be incorporated in the Raahgiri.

Emerging after the meeting, Mayor Sulochana Das said, “In the meeting, we discussed about Raahgiri and the implementation of various developmental activities to be taken up. A committee has been formed to look after the celebration of the street event in three zones. Two corporators from each zone and the ZDC are the members and it will be headed by the additional commissioner of the BMC.”   

Raahgiri, the street event has turned out to be a huge crowd-puller in the past. A range of activities for participants, including yoga, cycling, and dancing, among others are featured in the festival.
