Bhubaneswar boosts security with 1,500 AI-powered CCTV cameras

Bhubaneswar has strengthened its public safety infrastructure with the installation of 1,500 AI-enabled CCTV cameras across strategic locations in the city.

This initiative, led by Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL), aims to enhance security for women, children, and the elderly, while also improving traffic monitoring and management.

The newly installed cameras come equipped with advanced artificial intelligence features, including facial recognition and behavior analysis, enabling authorities to detect suspicious activities effectively. They are also capable of identifying traffic violations, such as riding without helmets, driving on the wrong side, and ignoring traffic signals.

All cameras are integrated with an intelligent command center where trained operators monitor real-time feeds. The system is expected to provide valuable data to support urban planning, traffic decongestion, and road safety initiatives.
