Bhubaneswar was the sixth hottest place in Asia on Friday (April 05, 2024), informed IMD Bhubaneswar Scientist, Umashankar Das. 

Das took to his X handle and shared a list of Asia's 10 hottest places on April 5, 2024. In the said list, Bhubaneswar was the 6th hottest with a max temperature of 43.5° C. Chauk in Myanmar was the hottest place in the continent with a temperature of 45.7° C on Friday. 

As many as 4 places from Myanmar were in the top 5, while Nandyal in India was the 4th hottest place with 43.7° C today. 

As per the day-end data provided by the IMD, Bhubaneswar recorded a temperature of 43.5 degrees C today. By 2:30 PM, mercury in the capital city of Odisha had already touched 43.3° C. 

The IMD has issued a yellow warning for heat wave in 14 districts of Odisha in the next 24 hours. 

Later in the day, the Khordha district administration revised the school and Anganwadi timings. As per the directive of the Khordha Collector, classess will be held from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
