In a novel initiative, spiritual ambience will be provided inside the Intensive Care Units (ICU) of the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack soon.

As per the medical authorities, spiritual bhajans will give the necessary strength to the patients struggling for their lives inside the ICUs. The patients admitted to ICUs will be provided music therapy in the hospital.

According to the health experts of SCB, only instrumental music of bhajans with a slow sound will be very effective for serious patients.

The proposal has been accepted in the health development committee meeting of the hospital on Wednesday. The authorities of the medical have realized that there is a probability of speedy recovery of the patients with the positive ambience created by the spiritual influence of music therapy.

Tender will be floated soon by the hospital authorities to entrust private firms with the responsibility of providing music therapy inside the ICUs.

“If we can play some instrumental music inside ICUs, the soothing sound will have an impact on healing. After deliberating upon the proposal, we have taken a decision to play instrumental music inside all the ICUs of the hospital. It will be carried out soon. As per the government procedure, we will float a tender in this regard soon,” said Dr Abinash Rout, Vice-Chancellor of SCB.
