The Block Development Officer (BDO) of Nuagaon under Nayagarh district misbehaved with the villagers who had come to him to complain about irregularities in the latest PMAY beneficiary list.

The purported video of the entire incident has gone viral on social media.

In the video clip, the BDO, Pramod Kumar Nayak could be seen yelling at the villagers and telling them to get out of his office.

On the other hand, the villagers who came to complain about irregularities in the PMAY house allocation could be heard replying that he cannot misbehave with them.

People who have 10 rooms have been selected to receive PMAY houses, but the people who do not have anything are not there in the list, a woman alleged in the viral video.

When asked about the viral video, the BDO said, “This is really unfortunate. Some people are trying to frame me with false allegations. A man like me would never misbehave with others.”

“There were three Sarpanches in my office at that time as well. A youth was recording video on his mobile phone. I pointed my fingers at him and told him to stop. The youth took offence and made that picture viral by saying I misbehaved with the villagers,” Nayak said.

Denying the allegations, Nayak added, “I neither misbehaved with anybody nor did I have any intentions to do that.”

Allegations of corruption have been pouring in after the list of PMAY beneficiaries were published in Odisha. Eligible beneficiaries have been complaining of corruption in finalizing the list. However, the Odisha Panchayati Raj Minister Pradeep Amat has said, “People can submit their grievances at block offices and to the district Collector. The State government is committed to provide PMAY houses to eligible beneficiaries only."
