Eminent painter Bansidhar Pratihari has been selected for the prestigious Dharmapada Award for 2022, Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi announced on Saturday. The recipient will get a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh and citation.

Apart from Pratihari, renowned sculpture and painter Brajabandhu Mishra, eminent palm leaf engraving artist Laxmidhar Subudhi, pattachitra artist Bhramarabar Naik, painter Ramesh Kumar Behera and eminent stone sculptor Keshav Chandra Maharana will also be honoured by the Akademi.

The artists chosen for the honour will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a citation, a copper plaque and a shawl each.

The awardees will be felicitated at a function scheduled to be held at the conference hall of Sanskruti Bhawan on February 6.

Dharmapada Award is highest award given by the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi to an individual for his/her lifetime achievement and contribution to the enrichment of painting and sculpture from 1987.
