Odisha Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra
In response to the growing concerns over the presence of Bangladeshi infiltrators in certain regions of Odisha, Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra on Tuesday strongly asserted that the state government is committed to ensuring national security and maintaining internal order.
While speaking to reporters, Mahapatra acknowledged that misinformation and confusion are being spread in areas where infiltrators are reportedly residing. He emphasized, “The presence of Bangladeshi nationals is creating unrest and posing a potential threat to the security and peace of our country.”
The Minister made it clear that identifying and deporting these illegal entrants is a top priority for the Odisha government.
“India’s security is of top priority, and the government is committed to it. Those who are creating a threat to the country and its citizens need to be identified and deported. It is our responsibility to identify such individuals and ensure they are sent back to their native land,” he said.
On reports and concerns over how infiltrators have managed to obtain Indian documents, including ration cards, the Odisha Minister said, “There is an ongoing investigation into how they managed to acquire documents and ration cards. We are looking into every such case with utmost seriousness.”
Currently, a comprehensive survey is underway to gather accurate data on infiltrators. “Once the survey is completed, necessary and strict action will be taken without any delay,” the Minister assured.
This statement comes amid increasing public anxiety over demographic changes and security risks in urban areas, particularly those with unregulated settlements. The government’s stance signals a tightened approach to unauthorized migration and a move to safeguard national interests.
