Bangladesh unrest: BJP National VP Jay Panda expresses displeasure over attack on Hindus, vandalism of temples

BJP National Vice President and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda expressed disappointment over the targeting of Hindu and other minor communities amidst political turmoil in Bangladesh. Speaking at Pratibha Bhawan, Mahanga, Cuttack, he condemned the disrespect shown to Lord Jagannath and the vandalism of temples. He highlighted India's commitment to peace and stability, noting PM Narendra Modi's engagement with the interim Bangladeshi government. Panda also underscored the significance of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) for offering citizenship to minorities from partition-affected countries.

At a time when political turmoil in Bangladesh continues to intensify, BJP National Vice President and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda has expressed disappointment over how the Hindu and other minor communities are being targeted in the neighbouring country.

Speaking to journalists during an event at Pratibha Bhawan at Mahanga in Cuttack, Panda said, "It is very unfortunate the way Lord Jagannath was disrespected and temples were vandalised.”

Expressing concern over the way the minorities including Hindus and others are being targeted in Bangladesh, the BJP leader said, “India believes in peace and stability. PM Narendra Modi and other officials are in touch with the interim Bangladesh government so that the law & order is maintained. Efforts are being taken so that there is no atrocity on the minorities."  

Highlighting the importance of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Panda said, “To offer citizenship to the minorities living in the countries that were formed after the partition of India, CAA was introduced. But many opposed it.”
