In a towering example of large-heartedness in the face of anguish, a woman from Nuasahi village under Nilgiri block in Balasore district donated his husband’s eyes following his death.

As per reports, Malati Madhei’s husband Kamalakanta Madhei was working in a shrimp processing plant. However, 45-year-old Kamalakanta was electrocuted to death while on duty.

The deceased’s whole family was crestfallen following the tragic incident. However, amid the deep anguish, Malati remained strong and decided to donate the eyes of her husband.

As per Malati, her husband had once expressed a desire to donate his eyes after his death. Respecting the wish of her deceased husband, she decided to donate his eyes.

“When my husband was alive, he had told me to donate his eyes after his death. I can’t get back my husband. But I decided to fulfill his wish. Let someone else get the opportunity to see the light of the world with his eyes,” said Malati.

“My son used to help people a lot. He is no more now. His eyes will help another person see the light of the world. His wish will be fulfilled in this way,” said the deceased’s mother Basanti Madhei.

Meanwhile, Nilgiri MLA Sukanta Nayak hailed the family members for taking such a great decision.

“I would like to thank all the family members of the deceased. They have taken a great decision to donate the eyes of Kamalakanta after his death. They have set an example for society,” said Nayak.
