Prime Minister Narendra Modi got emotional while speaking to the personnel engaged in the rescue work at the train crash site in Bahanaga, revealed a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) constable while speaking to OTV.

NDRF Constable Bhim Kumar said, “PM Modi came to meet us after visiting the crash site. He wanted to know from us the exact situation of the rescue operation and the hurdles we were facing. The Prime Minister spoke with us and we felt very happy about that gesture.”

“However, he got emotional when we narrated the situation the night before and about the scattered dead bodies all over the place. He dropped his head in grief. We understood that he has taken the situation seriously.”

Narrating his experience, Bhim Kumar further said, “When we first reached the spot it was chaos everywhere and we could not decide where to start, because almost all the coaches had dead bodies and injured persons in them.”

“We began our operation with the injured first. We rescued and sent them to hospital and then proceeded to recover the bodies. There were so many deaths that the bodies were being found even after 24 hours of the mishap,” Bhim Kumar added.

“There were some bodies pinned under the train coaches too. It was difficult to recover them, but we recovered them nonetheless and finished the operation successfully,” he added.

Finally, he extended his gratitude to all the locals of Bahanaga. “They were the ones who helped rescue the injured even before we reached the spot,” Bhim Kumar said.
