Flood situation in Balasore remains grim
The flood situation in Balasore remains grim and all possible measures are being undertaken to speed up the relief and rescue operations, said Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi after conducting an aerial survey of the affected areas on Wednesday.
According to Majhi, several parts of Balasore district are reeling under floods following heavy rainfall in the past two to three days.
“Today, I reviewed the situation. Six blocks and 8000 hectares have been inundated. Apart from this, 35 gram panchayats in three blocks have been affected due to the floods,” said CM Majhi.
The Chief Minister further informed that the district administration has evacuated 2000 people from low-lying areas and cooked food is being provided to them. As many as 8 teams of Fire Services, 3 teams of ODRAF and 1 team of NDRF are deployed in the villages which are still cut-off from the rest of the world.
“The Odisha government is taking steps for controlling flood in Subarnarekha river. The EIC has been directed to prepare a road map for a permanent solution. The government will take steps after getting a report in this regard," the CM added.
