The Bajrang Dal launched a state-wide agitation in front of all the Collectorates in Odisha protesting the alleged attack on its members during Hanuman Jayanti in Sambalpur.

“Everybody saw the stone pelting incident during the pre-Hanuman Jayanti bike rally. Had the police taken that seriously and acted accordingly, the violence on Hanuman Jayanti could have been averted,” said Vishva Hindu Parishad's Prant Pracharak Pramukh, Manas Mohanty.

"Viswa Hindu Parishad condemns the planned and coordinated attack on the Hanuman Jayanti procession in Sambalpur. The VHP and Bajrang Dal are protesting at all the District Collector offices in Odisha. We want to warn the government to take appropriate steps to curb these kinds of attacks otherwise we will intensify our protest,” said Bajrang Dal’s Prant Milan Kendra Pramukh, Bipin Bihari Panda.

Meanwhile, internet services have been suspended for another 24 hours till 10 am tomorrow in violence-hit Sambalpur to prevent misuse of social media.

Earlier, the Odisha Home Department, on Saturday, had extended the prohibition on the use and access of internet and data services including WhatsApp, Facebook, and other social media for 48 hours up to 10am on April 17, 2023.
