Badagada Police detained for three hours by locals during midnight raid in slum area

Police had a tough time at midnight on Friday while they were in a slum area under Badgada Police limits in Bhubaneswar to arrest an accused in a murder case. The police were surrounded by some slum dwellers in Goutam Nagar as the former tried to raid the house of Ramchandra Guru, an accused in a murder case at around midnight. Guru is an associate of another murder accused Shyam Rao.

According to reports, local residents prevented police personnel from entering the house of Guru and detained the latter for three hours. Later, the local corporator came to know about the incident and rushed to the spot.

The wife of the accused fumed over the police’s midnight action. “It is a six-year-old case. My husband runs a shop in the BMC area. What is the reason for knocking on my door at midnight when I along with my three children are at home."

In the presence of the corporator, police had to turn back after they were shown the bail documents of the accused.

However, Badagada ASI Subrat Das said,” The corporator claimed that the accused has got bail and his advocate would come soon with bail documents.

We returned asking them to come to the police station with documents.”
