While Assistant Section Officer recruitment examination candidates were staring at uncertainty over the conduct of the examination following a curfew in Sambalpur town, the Odisha Director General of Police (DGP), Sunil Bansal announced special relaxation in curfew timings for the examination.

Speaking to the media after reviewing the situation, DGP Bansal said, “A relaxation of two hours each in the morning and evening is there. For ASO examination, we are in talks with the district administration so that aspirants do not suffer.”

“We may extend curfew relaxation time during the beginning and end of the examination allowing smooth movement of the aspirants. We will inform our decision soon,” Bansal added.

Notably, the preliminary examination for the recruitment to ASO posts in Orissa High Court is scheduled for tomorrow (April 16). 

Meanwhile, the district administration has issued a new helpline number - 06632403644 and allowed the UPSC exam candidates to go to the examination centres by showing their admit cards.

Earlier in the day, while speaking to OTV, Sambalpur Collector, Ananya Das said discussions are underway regarding different examinations scheduled for tomorrow.

Das also appealed to the public not to believe in rumours. While interacting with the media, Das said that the Home Department today extended the ban on internet services in Sambalpur for another 48 hours.
