Advik Srivastava, the main accused in connection with the suicide of Prakriti Lamsal, a Nepalese student at KIIT University, has been arrested and charged under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for alleged abetment of suicide.
Based on a complaint filed by the deceased girl's cousin, Siddhant Sigdel, police arrested Advik. He was placed in judicial custody, and cops have seized documents and electronic gadgets as part of the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, Odisha police has plans to seek a court order to keep the accused in custody for further interrogation. Authorities are pursuing the remand of Advik for further questioning concerning the tragic demise of Prakriti.
Officers from Infocity police station are likely to file an application today, requesting permission to extend the interrogation period to gather more details about the incident. In the meantime, the electronic devices belonging to the deceased student, including a mobile phone and laptop, have been dispatched to a forensic lab for a comprehensive data analysis that might offer further insights into the case.
The investigating team is also reaching out to other individuals associated with KIIT, including the institution's international relations officer, the hostel warden, and others who are reportedly linked to the deceased student's alleged intimidation. They have been served notices and are expected to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
The Commissionerate Police is actively investigating the case, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all students, including those from Nepal.
