Armed miscreants unleash terror in Odisha village, 3 injured

Tension gripped Kendupadar village under Asika Kotinada police limits in Ganjam district after a group of armed miscreants unleashed violence late on Thursday night. 

According to sources, more than five bike-borne assailants stormed into the village and confronted a group of local youths. The attackers allegedly demanded the name and address of a villager, but when the youths refused to disclose the information, the situation turned violent.

The miscreants suddenly launched an attack, brandishing sharp weapons and even firing gunshots in the air, creating panic in the area. Witnesses said the assailants chased the youths, injuring at least three of them with swords and other weapons before fleeing the scene. Hearing the commotion, villagers rushed to the spot, forcing the attackers to escape under the cover of darkness.

The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital and later referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, as their condition was reported to be critical. The sudden violence has left residents shaken, with many expressing fear over the safety of their community.

Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident and are trying to ascertain the identity and motive of the attackers. Extra forces have been deployed in Kendupadar to maintain peace and prevent further escalation
