Odisha Vigilance on Saturday launched a series of raids targeting N. Dillip Kumar Chaudhury, Assistant Executive Engineer of the Roads & Buildings Division in Berhampur. The operation was initiated following allegations of disproportionate assets (DA) beyond his known sources of income.
As of the latest reports, simultaneous searches are underway across multiple locations connected to Chaudhury, including his residences and official premises in Berhampur and Bhubaneswar.
The raids began early in the day and are being carried out in four locations, including:
- A house in Dharmanagar, Berhampur
- A second property in Mayuri Bihar, Berhampur
- His official premises in Berhampur
- A flat located in Shahid Nagar, Bhubaneswar
Teams from Odisha Vigilance are inspecting documents, valuables, and other assets to determine whether they align with Chaudhury’s declared income. As of the latest update, the raid was still in progress, and authorities had not yet released the full list or value of assets recovered.
Follows High-Profile Raid on Chief Engineer in Bhubaneswar
Notably, this development comes a day after Odisha Vigilance conducted a major raid on Baikuntha Nath Sarangi, the outgoing Chief Engineer of the RW Department, uncovering a massive web of disproportionate wealth. That operation yielded:
- Rs 2.51 crore in cash
- Rs 2.70 crore invested in the stock market
- Multiple properties, including two multi-storeyed houses, two flats, and seven plots
- Insurance and bank deposits worth over Rs 1.5 crore
- One bank locker in his wife’s name yet to be opened
Sarangi was reportedly scheduled to retire on May 31, making the timing of the raid particularly significant. The shocking detail that he allegedly tried to dispose of illegal cash by throwing it out of his flat window in Bhubaneswar further intensified public attention on the case.
In both cases, assets are being measured and assessed by the Vigilance Technical Wing, and further legal proceedings are expected following the conclusion of the evaluation.
