Gas cylinder blast in Odisha leaves three critically injured
A gas cylinder explosion in the Nalco Police Station area of Kulada village, Angul district, left three members of a family critically injured. The incident occurred late on Saturday night, around 2 am, at the residence of Bibhuti Bhushan Pradhan. The explosion caused a fire that engulfed the house, prompting an immediate emergency response.
As per reports, the blast woke nearby residents, who rushed out and found Pradhan’s house on fire. Neighbours discovered that Bibhuti, his wife Ratnamanjari Pradhan, and their son Vignesh Pradhan were trapped inside. They attempted to douse the flames and informed Nalco police.
Personnel from the Nalco Police Station promptly contacted the fire department, which reached the scene and managed to control the blaze. On entering the premises, the fire brigade found the three family members lying unconscious and carried out the rescue operation.
The injured were initially taken to Angul District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. Given the severity of their injuries, they were later transferred to Bhubaneswar for advanced medical care. All three remain in critical condition.
Police and fire department officials have begun an investigation to determine the cause of the gas cylinder explosion. Authorities are examining what led to the blast and why the cylinder exploded inside the residence.
