Odisha CM Mohan Majhi
Days after security forces eliminated 31 naxals in Chhattisgarh, Centre on Monday claimed that the government is completely committed to root out of Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) menace by March 2026 in the country.
While reviewing the security situation in Naxal-affected regions with the chief ministers and top officials of the LWE-hit states, Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured all possible assistance to tackle the situation.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi also attended the crucial meeting in New Delhi along with other senior police and other officials. Apart from Odisha, the states which are affected by the naxal menace include Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Odisha CM Mohan Majhi has placed a demand for 12 companies of central forces and a helicopter for intensifying the anti-naxal operations in the state.
“Today, Centre assured that whatever infrastructure is needed will be provided. Odisha is also facing left-wing extremism in 10 districts sharing borders with Chhattisgarh and other states. Focus is given on strengthening the border sharing with Chhattisgarh as there is a chance of influx of rebels who might set up temporary base here,” said CM Majhi.
The Chief Minister further informed that Odisha has requested 12 companies and one helicopter. The state has also sought assistance in carrying out other developmental works like road and mobile connectivity, and banking services in interior pockets.
