Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Bhubaneswar on Friday night on a two-day Odisha visit. After arriving in Bhubaneswar he was taken to a hotel in the city where he retired for the night.

Many BJP bigwigs including the party's National Vice President Baijayant Panda and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi were at the airport to receive Shah.

Party’s Bhubaneswar District president Babu Singh who was also present at the airport said, “All the members of the BJP are excited to the hilt. The visit of Amit Shah who is recognised as the Chanakya of national politics will definitely help boost the morale of all the BJP cadres in the State.”

Shah is scheduled to attend several programmes and meetings on Saturday.

Shah will attend three meetings at the Convention centre of the State Secretariat. Shah will inaugurate NHAI projects and hold review meetings on Left Wing Extremism and disaster management with the government of Odisha.

Later on, he will move to the State BJP office in Bhubaneswar where he will meet the newly appointed State office bearers of the party and discuss the completion of tasks assigned to them earlier.

He will also address the leaders on ways to take the achievements of Modi-government in nine years of governance at the Centre to the people.

Meanwhile, the political atmosphere in Odisha has already heated up. While BJP said the fight in 2024 will be an aggressive one in Odisha, the Congress said, Shah has come to Odisha to thank Naveen Patnaik over BJD’s support of BJP at the Centre.

“Amit Shah will hold meetings of executive body members and core committee members. Party members are quite excited about Shah’s visit. We will fight the election aggressively,” said Odisha BJP Chief, Manmohan Samal.

Tara Bahinipati of Congress on the other hand said, “Amit Shah has come to Odisha instead of going to Manipur only to thank Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his support to the Centre on the Delhi Services bill.”
