Amid climate change concerns, Odisha man on a mission for a greener Earth

Trilochan Sahoo from Anandapur in Keonjhar district, Odisha, has been dedicatedly planting trees for over a decade, transforming barren lands into small forests. A recipient of the 'Prakruti Bandhu' award, he launched the 'Mu Gacha Kahuchi' campaign to promote forest and wildlife preservation. Recently, he converted a large ditch near Baitarani river into a small forest with 150 fruit and flower trees.

At a time when global warming and climate change have emerged as major concerns worldwide, a man from Odisha's Kenojhar is on a mission to ensure a greener Earth for the future generation.

Meet Trilochan Sahoo, a resident of Anandapur in Keonjhar district, who has been planting trees over the last one decade and turning barren lands into small forests.

A recipient of 'Prakruti Bandhu' award, Sahoo has planted more than 1600 trees at various places in Anandapur sub division in the district this year alone. Besides, he has launched a campaign 'Mu Gacha Kahuchi' to create awareness about preservation of forests and wildlife among the people. 

As part of the campaign, Sahoo is urging people to plant at least one tree on their birthdays and take care of the plant.

Sahoo claimed that he recently transformed a huge ditch in a small forest near Baitarani river adjacent to a primary school in Fakirpur earning praises from all quarters.

As part of the initiative, Sahoo along with his friends reportedly planted more than 150 fruit and flower trees in the ditch to transform it into a small forest.

"My interest in planting trees developed when I was a child. I have been continuously planting trees for the last 10 years and this gives me immense satisfaction. I urge everyone to do their bit for a better world," Sahoo said.
