Amid blistering heat, cooler in auto-rickshaw makes ride comfy for passengers in Ganjam

At a time when people in several parts of Odisha are having a harrowing time due to intense heat and humid conditions, an auto-rickshaw driver has come up with a unique Jugaad to provide some respite to the passengers. The auto-rickshaw driver, Jitendra Barada from Belaguntha area in Ganjam, has installed a cooler, fan and luxury seats in his three-wheeler. The cooler has been made out of a plastic container.

Not only this, Jitendra has also made special arrangements for entertainment of the passengers travelling in his auto-rickshaw by installing a LCD TV.

A mechanic by profession, Jitendra has been running the auto-rickshaw for the past six years. However, he decided to add passenger-friendly amenities with the aim to increase his business and help the poor and needy.

“I have made the modifications by watching Youtube. Now I have added a cooler, LCD, pushback seats to provide a cool ambiance to the passengers,” said Jitendra.

Jitendra further said that he now wants to install a mini-fridge which will take another week’s time.

“The idea struck me after seeing the plights of patients travelling in the auto. Now they are happy as they get some cool air from the fan and cooler,” said Jitendra.

Passengers also wait to travel to their respective destinations in Jitendra’s auto-rickshaw as he also offers discounts to the poor and needy.
