After 24 years of governance, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) suffered a shocking defeat in the last 2024 General Elections. Reflecting over the incident after three months, defeated BJD candidate from Nabarangpur parliamentary seat- Pradeep Majhi revealed three main reasons behind the party’s poor show.

According to Majhi, BJD suffered defeat in the last election due to the speculation about alliance with BJP for which the party lost credibility among the minority. Majhi also said that infighting among the party leaders and bad election management were the other reasons for the poll debacle.

Majhi deliberated upon the main reasons behind BJD’s defeat in a meeting with the organizational workers of Kalahandi and Nabarangpur districts before party supremo Naveen Patnaik at Sankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

Patnaik has been reviewing party’s loss in the last election and the prevailing inner fighting within BJD in every district.

Notably, the infighting within BJD’s Bhubaneswar unit has been intensified with two corporators of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) levelling serious allegations against former minister Ashok Panda.

Moreover, things are getting worse with several BJD leaders in the grassroots frequently switching allegiance to ruling BJP.
