The Income Tax Department officials on Wednesday raided multiple places linked to Boudh Distillery Private Limited (BDPL), suspecting the firm of tax evasion.

Simultaneous raids were conducted at places linked to the distillery in Boudh, Bolangir, Rayagada, and Sambalpur including its registered offices at Kolkata and Ranchi.

As per reports the residences of the Directors and the Managing Director have also been raided by the IT sleuths.

Headquartered in Odisha, the BDPL group operates across Odisha. It has other business divisions like Baldeo Sahu Infra Private Limited (Fly Ash Bricks) Kwality Bottlers Private Limited (IMFL Bottling) and Kishore Prasad Bijay Prasad Beverages Private Limited (Sales & Marketing of IMFL brands).

As the raids are currently undergoing at several places, the exact amount of tax evasion has not been revealed yet.

IT sleuths reportedly seized cash worth Rs 50 crore during raids at Boudh Distillery Private Limited (BDPL) and other places linked to it. Raids were also carried out in Kolkata and Ranchi in connection with the Boudh distillery case. 

In another development, Income Tax officials raided the house, the office, and a country-liquor unit of liquor trader Rajkishore Jaiswal in Sundargarh following allegations of tax evasion.
