After a long gap, Ajanta Circus has once again put up its tent in Bhubaneswar. This time it has come with a pack of powerful performances. Since the shows are devoid of performances by animals or birds, its mainstay is breathtaking Russian Rope items and jaw-dropping gymnastic items by foreigners.

According to Sanjit Ghoshal, the manager of Ajanta Circus, the inaugural show will be on Thursday and it will be in the city for 40 days.

“The duration of the circus will be two-and-a-half hours. There will be 30 to 32 items daily. Keeping the market condition in view, we have lowered the ticket price here. The prices are Rs 100, 150, 200 and 300. And the timings of the shows are 1 pm, 3 pm and 7 pm,” informed Ghoshal.

“After a long gap, we have brought Ajanta Circus to Bhubaneswar. In the past, we had already performed in almost all the cities including Bhubaneswar. There is a hell and heaven difference between the circus of those days and the circus of the present days. The main difference is that earlier there used to be animal shows and now, we don’t have any such shows. This is why we have performers from foreign countries like Ethiopia, Africa and Russia,” Ghoshal informed.

“17 years ago when we visited Bhubaneswar, we had lions, tigers, elephants, horses, bears, monkeys, dogs and parrots. Our next visit to the capital city was in 2012 and then we didn’t have lion, tiger, bear and monkey. We had only elephants, horses, dogs and parrots. As the government put restrictions on the use of animals in circuses, we gradually separated them. This is why we have come this time without animals. Here we are presenting gymnastic shows akin to those viewed in Olympic games,” he added.
