The agitating members of the Odisha Amala Sangha, Malkangiri chapter, launched a cleanliness drive at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) on Thursday, on the eighth day of their state-wide strike.

They even went out of their way and donated blood for the injured persons of the triple train crash at Bahanaga Bazar in Balasore district. Their social work didn’t stop there. They also contributed Rs 50,000 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).

The ongoing strike of the Amala Sangha has affected the official work severely, leaving people at their wit’s end.

In Sambalpur, the agitating members are staging a demonstration in front of the Collector’s office, demanding fulfillment of their demands. The situation at Biramitrapur tehsil in Sundargarh district is no different either due to the ongoing strike.

Demanding a raise of Rs 4200 from the present grade pay of Rs 1900, the association has launched an indefinite strike from June 1.

As they are on mass leave, the official works in all the districts are affected, forcing the people who are visiting the government offices to return empty-handed.
