Proposed Colour Change For Schools
The government schools in Odisha will now undergo a colour change. The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has issued a directive for all government schools within the state to be painted in 'Orange Tan' shade.
The new colour change will also be applicable to PM SHRI Schools initiative during construction, repair and renovation works. District collectors have been tasked with overseeing this transition during new construction or renovation projects with the new colour-code.
The move aims to standardise the visual identity of government schools in Odisha, ensuring they reflect the uniform aesthetic initiative.

OSEPA has called on district collectors to ensure compliance with this directive, emphasising the adoption of the specified saffron hue during construction and renovation works. This initiative reflects a broader effort to unify school appearances across the state, promoting a consistent educational environment.
The distinct shade, referred to as 'Orange Tan', marks a significant cultural symbolism in Indian society, with saffron historically associated with strength and courage.
Earlier, the Odisha government had changed the colour and design of uniforms for students of secondary schools by replacing white and green with light brown and maroon.
