Voices of dissent continue to emerge from the Odisha unit of the Congress party over the selection of office bearers of the Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC).

A couple of days after veteran Congress leader and Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati expressed his dissatisfaction over the PCC office bearers list, senior party leader and Jatani MLA Sura Routray on Thursday expressed open dissatisfaction over the selection of candidates.

Speaking to the media, Routray said, “There are many ineligible persons who are holding key positions in the committee and I am unhappy with it. I have apprised the president of my discontent. I have suggested the inclusion of some names which have been dropped."

“Similarly, those who are dissatisfied with the list should approach the president and inform the same,” Routray added. Earlier on Tuesday, Bahinipati vented his displeasure over the OPCC office bearers list.

Even if Bahinipati was named as one of the State Vice Presidents of the party in the newly-published list, he expressed his displeasure saying he does not wish to hold any position and wants to work only in his constituency.

“I have never asked anybody in Congress party to make me the Vice President. I do not want to be a man of pity. I am self-sufficient and can do my things on my own. I anyways do not get enough time to work in my constituency. If I sit in a position, then it will be even harder for me to work here,” Bahinipati had said.

Notably on Monday, Congress President approved the appointment of office bearers of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee. Five senior vice presidents, 12 vice presidents, and 39 general secretaries were named in the list.
