Hooliganism in 5T T-shirts
A day after Congress workers alleged threat by miscreants wearing t-shirts with ‘5T’ printed on them during a demonstration in Jajpur, the BJP on Wednesday condemned the incident. The Congress was staging the demonstration ahead of the 5T Secretary VK Pandian’s visit to the district yesterday.
While the identity of the miscreants was yet to be ascertained, the Congress yesterday alleged that the attackers were members of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
BJP’s Jajpur district president, Gautam Ray said, “It is alleged that BJD’s goonda bahini wearing 5T t-shirts attacked Congress workers. We condemn such incidents. It seems that attempts are being made by the ruling party to unleash terror using all means.”
Ray further alleged that not only in Jajpur, people across Odisha saw the double-face of the BJD which on the one hand speaks about non-violence and ‘Ahimsa’ and is spreading violence on the other.
Senior Congress leader, Bijay Patnaik said, “The visuals of some people wearing 5T t-shirt wielding sticks and moving around has disturbed me and others as well. They have taken away jobs, and transport and now they have started attacking Odia youths. Congress will certainly oppose such acts.”
Responding to the allegations leveled by the Opposition, BJD leader Bhupinder Singh said, “Why others are having problems when CM has given instructions to 5T Secretary to visit and hear the grievances. Why other political parties are having problems with it?”
