The land mafia has allegedly sold acres of government land to some unsuspecting people in Sundargarh’s Rajgangpur area.

As per reports, government land located at ward number 7 behind the block office have been subjected to forgery and allegedly sold off.

The incident came to the fore after the locals submitted a written complaint in this regard to the Tehsildar.

A local, Ashok Nayak alleged, “Some members of the land mafia have plotted some of the government land used for grazing of cattle, and sold them to outsiders. We have been living here since ages, but never encroached upon that land, because we use them to grazing cattle and would have built a temple too. But the mafia has no fear of the law. They sold them to unsuspecting outsiders at very high rates.”

However, the buyers feigned ignorance of the land being owned by the government.

A buyer, Sabita Garadiya said, “We do not have much money. The seller told us to pay Rs 50,000 for this piece of land. We gave him in return of a paper signed by him. We are not educated enough. We do not know what’s written in that paper or whether the land belongs to the government.”

“I have received a written complaint in this regard. I have already sent the RI and other officials to the spot for inquiry and informed the higher ups. The authorities will take action as per the inquiry report,” said, Rajgangpur Tehsildar, Binay Kullu.
