Acid attack attempt on woman foiled in Bhubaneswar
An acid attack attempt on a woman was thwarted by quick-thinking locals at the Saheed Nagar area in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. The local people reportedly overpowered the accused youth and handed him over to the police.
As per reports, the youth, along with two of his associates, allegedly tried to throw acid on the victim woman's face due to unrequited love.
However, the local residents acted decisively, restraining the alleged perpetrators and subsequently handing the main accused over to the police.
The young woman involved in the incident has reportedly filed a formal complaint with the Saheed Nagar police station. She has called for stringent action against the accused, emphasising the need for justice in such violent acts.
"I had a friendship with the boy. However, he got married. When I saw his marriage pictures and invitation card, I discarded my friendship with him. However, he got angry with me and said that he was forced to get married due to family pressure. He further told me that she wanted to marry me," said the woman.

"When I refused his proposal, she made my pictures viral and tormented me. He also threatened me. I have already given him Rs 50,000 not to make my pictures viral. However, he is still making my pictures viral. He even tried to throw acid on my face with two of his associates today. I have filed a complaint against him at the police station. Stern action should be taken against him," she added.
No comments were received from the police in this regard.
