Police on Friday exhumed the body of a man after his family members in Baliguda area in Kandhamal district brought allegations of ‘organ theft’ at a private hospital in Cuttack. The deceased has been identified as Babula Diggal.

As per reports, Babula of Tikarbaju village was travelling on a bike with his son and wife when he met with an accident on October 13. First, his family rushed to several hospitals and later took him to a private hospital in Cuttack on October 15. Later, he died a day after his admission.

The hospital authorities asked the family to take Babula’s body and even allegedly arranged an ambulance for transportation. However, the family was shocked after finding some stitch marks on his body.

“We were travelling together when the accident occurred. First, we took my father Tumudibandh, then Baliguda hospital, Berhampur and AIIMS Bhubaneswar. After waiting for some time, we took him to a private hospital in Cuttack. We had paid Rs 70000 and later cleared over Rs 30,000 after surgery,” alleged the deceased’s son Iscak.
