ABVP Members Protesting At FM College
The members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Tuesday opposed the Yuva Odisha Nabin Odisha programme at Fakir Mohan Autonomous College in Balasore.
They demanded to invite intellectuals from all the political parties instead of only one particular party.
Apart from that the students affiliated to the ABVP demanded to remove the posters and banners of that political party from the college premises.
“We have submitted a 10-point demand to the Principal. But our primary demand is to stop the politics behind Yuva Odisha Nabin Odisha programme. The college is inviting guests from only one political party. But we want it to be a programme of intellectuals and academicians,” said an ABVP member.
Naveen Patnaik has launched it as a government programme, then it should remain that way. But we are seeing that the Yuva Odisha Nabin Odisha programme has turned into a party programme,” said another ABVP member.
They submitted a memorandum to the College Principal demanding the same and warned to lock the college gate if the demands are not met by December 28.
After ‘Mo Odisha Nabin Odisha’, the ruling Biju Janata Dal has launched ‘Yuva Odisha Nabin Odisha’. Under this, the government is organising sports events across the state, in rural as well as urban areas. Cricket, football, volleyball, kabaddi and kho kho events are being organised in men's and women's categories with participants aged between 13 and 35 years.
