A week after vice-chairman of Bonai block in Sundargarh district went missing, her husband on Thursday brought kidnap allegations.

According to sources, the vice-chairman identified as Binati Behera had gone to Khamara to drop her son at school on January 4. But, she did not return home after dropping her son at school.

Meanwhile, Binati’s husband Prasanna Behera filed a complaint with Tikayatpali police station.

Prasanna launched a frantic search but it was futile. Later, he went to the police station to lodge a complaint in this regard. Prasanna suspects that his wife is kidnapped.

Prasanna said, “I am sure that she is kidnapped. She had gone to drop our son at school but is yet to return home. I filed a complaint at the police station on January 6. In my complaint, I have mentioned that she has been kidnapped.”

Sub-divisional police officer Swaraj Debta said, “Binati had gone to Angul to drop her son on January 4. Since then, she has been missing.  Based on the complaint, police have launched a manhunt to ascertain the whereabouts of the block vice-chairperson.”
