Over 50 metal snake and two bull idols were recovered from the Mahanadi River in Banki of Cuttack district on Friday. The find triggered awe for the day being the auspicious Maha Shivratri. As the news broke, hundreds of people from nearby areas thronged the spot to have a look at the idols. 

As per reports, like any other day, some fishermen were catching fish in the Mahanadi River at Subarnapur Jatamundia high-level bridge. As they were sailing in a boat, one after another snake idols got caught in their fishing net. When they pulled it out, they were surprised to see the catch.

They brought the idols to the bank and informed the villagers. In no time, hundreds of people thronged the spot to have a glimpse of the idols. Some even termed the catch as the blessing of Lord Shiva as it was the day of Maha Shivratri. 

All the idols were kept at the village Shiva temple.

However, any further details regarding the source & origins of the idols could not be ascertained immediately.
