At least four persons were killed and more than 15 others were injured in separate mishaps in Jajpur district on Thursday.

In a tragic incident, as many as three labourers were killed as land caved at Rahas village under Binjharpur police limits in the district today.

While the deceased have been identified as Akhtar Ansari and Firoz Ansari, identity of the other deceased is yet to be ascertained. They were working for a private company.

As per reports, labourers from Bihar and Tamil Nadu were engaged in pipeline installation work in the area. However, land caved in during the work and three among the workers got buried. Later, they were rescued and rushed to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital. However, they succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.

In another unfortunate incident, one labourer was killed while three others were trapped in an accident in the Dankari mine under Dharmashala block in the district.

A rescue operation has been launched to rescue the other three labourers from the mine.

BJP MLA candidate Smrutirekha Pahi reached the spot and demanded stern action against the mining mafias operating in the area.

However, no reactions could be obtained from the district administration or the owner of the mine in this regard.

In a road accident, as many as 14 persons sustained injuries in a bus-truck collision near Kabirpur under Sadar police limits in the district. 

Till the last report came in, condition of four passengers undergoing treatment in Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital was reportedly critical.
