As Odisha continues to reel under immense heat, a total of 30 places in the State experienced a maximum temperature of over 40 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

Baripada recorded a maximum temperature of 44.5 degrees Celsius today making it the hottest place in Odisha once again.

Baripada was followed by Nuapada (44.4 degrees), Bolangir (44 degrees), Boudh (43.9 degrees) and Talcher (43.8 degrees).

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded maximum temperatures of 42.5 and 42.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued an alert for heat wave in several parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.

As per the IMD, there will be no change in the maximum temperature (Day) during the next two days and mercury will register a gradual fall by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius during the subsequent three days.

Speaking about the weather, IMD scientist, Umashankar Das said, “We have issued heat wave warning for tomorrow in six districts – Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Boudh. Some districts may witness lightning and thunderstorm activities on April 21, 22 and 23.”
