In a heart-wrenching incident, three girls are forced to beg at their village in Dhunakeda under Bolangir’s Saintala block to release the body of their brother from a hospital in Hyderabad.

Their brother, Rajesh Chhatria was fatally injured in a road mishap in Hyderabad a few days back and subsequently breathed his last while under treatment at a private hospital in the same city.

The girls alleged that the hospital is demanding dues of Rs 50,000 pending during the treatment of their brother, Rajesh Chhatria before releasing his body.

Failing to pay the hospital dues, his sisters returned home to Odisha and started begging in their village to collect the required money for the release of Rajesh’s body from the hospital.

“My brother had gone to Hyderabad to work where he died in an accident. We do not have money to pay the pending bills at the hospital. Therefore, we are begging in the village,” said Bobby Chhatria, sister of the deceased.

Rajesh’s mother Manjula Chhatria said, “My son contested the last election as a Samiti Member and lost. He had spent all his savings in the election campaign. Frustrated by the loss he went to Hyderabad to work as a migrant labourer in a factory. I do not know what happened there, but I received the news of his death a few days back.”

“I have five daughters and a son who is no more. I do not have any earning members in my family. I request the government to help me get back my son’s body from Hyderabad,” Manjula urged.
